Sulphur butterflies in my back yard
These have been so difficult for me to capture. The lantana and red salvia blooms that they prefer are a little scarce right now -- the Sulphurs have been forced to land on the cosmos but they never stay very long -- they're off quickly and in search of something better to nourish themselves. I hadn't realized until this year how pretty they are -- they've always been just a flash of yellow across the sky -- but this season I've had the chance to really look at them and I think they're lovely. I need to do more research to determine whether I have the "clouded" or "unclouded" Sulphurs. I love that pink edging around the wings.
[Thanks to Roberta (Nature's Poetry) for noting that these are the "Clouded" Sulphur. Now that she has mentioned it, I think I see the difference -- I can see the "cloud" on the wings.]
