The new vegetable garden / salad garden
The big red chard at front is several years old; it had been in a pot behind the wall and had sent roots out into the ground so I just built the garden around it, pot and all. The red runner along the fence is malabar spinach, which hasn't leafed out yet. Marigolds are interplanted freely -- they're supposed to repel harmful nematodes.
