Spring is peachy! We'll need some ice cream soon!

This peach tree was the first I've seen blooming this spring. The peach, (Prunus persica) has been traced botanically to China, but was brought to Persia (modern day Iran) where it was thought to have originated when scientists began their scientific classification system. The peach was apparently brought to Persia from China in ancient times (BC) and has spread over the world. From looking at the beautiful blooms, it will not surprise you that the peach is a member of the Rosaceae (Rose) family. These blossoms look remarkable like antique roses. Texas is known for wonderful peaches and wonderful home made ice cream. Of course, both are best when served together. Now we wait for the fruit. Can you taste it?
