Duck Reach

Sunset in Cataract Gorge on the South Esk River at the site of the former Duck Reach Power Station.

The Power Station was Australias first hydro-electric power station, coming into being in 1895 and running mostly uninterrupted until 1955. It provided the nearby town of Launceston with power well before almost any other location in the Southern Hemisphere.

Nowadays it's just a museum and a memory of the recent past.
