Frozen Awakening

This picture is portraying the vertical glaciers of the Grand Combin North Face.

The Grand Combin is a large glaciated massif in the western Pennine Alps in Switzerland, consisting of several summits, among which three are above 4.000 metres.

Here is clearly visible one of the ascent route, called Le Corridor, through the Aiguille du Croissant (4.260 m). Then, a bit more on the right, you can see the Combin de Grafeneire (4.314 m) which is the highest peak of the massif.

Shot taken at 4:46 a.m. from the moraines above the Corbassière Glacier, in the light of dawn, which allows to appreciate every detail of this permanently frozen world.

To paraphrase a sentence of Apocalipse Now "I love the colors of ice in the morning" :-))
