The Ephemeral Planet
"Suspended in time and space, constantly evolving, caressed by clouds above 2.500 meters veiling and hiding the reality below...
So appears the Ephemeral Planet, where everything is transient, intangible and silent... while right in the center rises the morning star".
Shot taken on August 24th 2012, at 5:41 a.m. from the summit of Mount Rocciamelone (3.538 m), Italy, in the exact moment of sunrise.
The atmosphere was so much rich in mist that obscured the glowing disc of the sun, allowing so to easily manage a few direct shots (220mm lens).
We live in a society where what appears seems to be nice... actually I disagree. I definitely prefer to search for the hidden beauty.
Overwhelmed as we are by the cult of the "striking at all costs" this shot may even seem "empty" ... but, personally, it is to experience moments like this, full of whispered otherworldly minimalism, that I continue to go to the mountains.
