350114 at Lichfield Trent Valley
It’s hard to imagine how much services have improved on the Trent Valley Route since my previous days photographing railways in the 1980s. Originally services were sporadic and patronage very low. They deteriorated further to the point whereby all stopping trains were suspended in favour of giving scarce paths to additional longer distance services and passengers (if any) were accommodated in a taxi!
Completion of the upgrade of the WCML which saw extra four tracking in places, produced the capacity for a regular hourly stopping service and since its introduction patronage soared to the point that many trains were full.
Even on this day, taken during the Covid 19 restrictions, a good number of people alighted here at Lichfield TV,
