Brickverse Suicide Squad: additional members
Since my whole ‘New Suicide Squad’ is a film pitch idea I didn’t do any of the previous film characters, but seeing as the lineup for my film pitch are all my own designs anyway I figured I’d do my own spin on a couple other classic Squad members that weren’t in my film pitch, some of which having already been in films. I wish I had a version of King Shark for this lineup, but I couldn’t come up with a design that I was happy with for that character.
From L to R:
Clock King: admittedly not a minifig I’m super happy with, or at least the hat colour, but I really liked this character in the DCAU as the strategist of the team.
Captain Boomerang: I actually had this exact minifig made back when I first made Suicide Squad minifigs last year. I really like the more toned down looks this character has had in recent years, so I went with a similar design to those.
Deadshot: fairly simplistic but I really like it, basically a DCAU inspired design where he was mostly red and silver, but this time with brighter red. The classic look for Deadshot is still my favourite, like Deathstroke I prefer more simplistic designs for those characters than their more recent armoured designs seeing as they’re meant to be assassins who can just slip in and out, so having them be in super bulky costumes never made sense to me. I had a version with Iron Man legs and Polybag Rocket Racoon arms that I liked, but I decided to stick with a consistent red colour. The legs were a last minute addition as they were the only ones I had with mostly silver details, despite being older I think they work well enough.
Amanda Waller: another one I made a while back alongside Boomerang and one other. I did paint the neck section and whilst it’s not quite my ideal Amanda Waller minifig, it’s the best I could do with the parts I had.
Rick Flag: again nothing super complex, but I’m happy with it, again very DCAU inspired.
Doctor Light: I’ve always quite liked this character as a Suicide Squad member, he seems like one of those completely irredeemable characters that I always like to see on the team. This minifigure was pretty challenging, mainly the helmet which is far from perfect, but it does the job for me.
Harley Quinn: the last one I made at the same time as Boomerang and Waller last year, although that version had the full torso and legs from the standard Harley just with flesh arms. I’m not really a fan of when Harley’s skin is bleached, but I preferred the more detailed legs and seeing as the skin on them was white I changed out the flesh coloured arms for white. It’s also hard to tell but I gave her dark brown gloves which I quite liked the look of against the traditional Harley colours. The hair I custom painted.
I've got one more Suicide Squad related post planned, but I'm still working on that lineup so it'll be a little while before I post that.
Let me know what you think in the comments.
