Annie 52-32
This has been the hardest month for us but there was no doubt in our minds that Thursday was the time to say goodbye to the dog that has a special place in our hearts. Each vet visit brought a new heartbreak starting with an ultrasound to check for kidney stones, but revealing an adrenal tumor invading an artery, a large tumor in her spleen and one in her lymph node. We knew that she could be taken from us at anytime but each checkup brought something new. A tumor in her eye caused blindness on Wednesday. Worse was the eye pressure causing pain which the vets did not believe she was experiencing prior to the new finding. They reduced the pressure by extracting some fluids but we knew this would only buy us hours or a day. She also started with a head tilt and balance issues which were significantly worse by the next day. She gave us so many signs telling me that it was time to say goodbye. Emma made it out at her own will to her back yard where where Duke and Annie were with her. She lay down under the big oak tree and went peacefully with the help of a compassionate vet. We feel like a chunk of our hearts and souls have been taken away but we will always have the special memories with us.
No doubt that Annie is missing her doggy mommy who patiently loved and played with her since she was just 3lbs. Their love for each other was beautiful!
Emma was laid to rest at Aarrowood Pet Cemetery on Friday with BD, Lucky, Joey and her friend Bailey.
