Change at Köln Hbf 2009-06-14--010
DB (German Railways) 111 012-1 arrives from the west at Köln Hbf with a regional service formed of a double-deck push-pull set.
I was travelling from Brussels to Linz in Austria, after travelling on Mercia Charters' "The Resurrection" the previous day, but eventually heading for the PTG Tours "Slovenian Spanka". I'd bought a cheap DB "Europaspezial" ticket on the first ICE of the day from Brussels to Köln - which I'm fairly certain was also the first passenger train to use the new Belgian High Speed Line 3 to the German border - and then had a different cheap DB "Europaspezial" ticket for the journey onward, taking an ICE to Munich and then one of the recently-introduced "RailJet" trains from there - but I travelled from Köln to Linz first class as, being a Sunday, first class advance purchase tickets were slightly cheaper than second class ones!
I had a fairly generous connection here, with time to photograph a handful of arriving trains, although this was by far the best angle.
