Tardy Tug at Turves 20220122--158

60029 Ben Nevis passes the small hamlet of Turves (between March and Whittlesea; the train will shortly pass Three Horse Shoes signalbox), working 6M89 09.01 Middleton Towers - Ravenhead Sidings loaded sand. [Pole, 6/6 sections (~8m)]

This had been recorded on the railway systems as setting off from Middleton Towers 35 minutes late, and was then an hour late departing from King's Lynn. However, a track circuit failure further south, which caused passenger trains from King's Cross to King's Lynn to be delayed in going onto the single line from Littleport to Downham Market, saw 6M89 held at Downham Market for a while, and by the time it reached March it was an hour and a half behind schedule. This, however, meant the sun angle was better for those photographers waiting between March and Whittlesea; at its booked time (when it runs via Melton Mowbray), the sun is only just coming onto the front in winter, and in summer it is still slightly backlit.
