NEOWISE and SpaceShipTwo
C/2020 F3 NEOWISE rising over the Virgin Galactic SpaceShipTwo on display near the entrance of Spaceport America in the New Mexico desert north of Las Cruces. SpaceShipTwo recently conducted a series of test flights from Spaceport and will begin powered suborbital spaceflight from the facility in the coming months. C/2020 F3 NEOWISE (named after the instrument that first detected it, the Near-Earth Object Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer) has an orbital period of roughly 6,000 years, making this its only visible pass in any of our lifetimes.
