Leica IIIa: 1935, First Batch
I fought it for so long...but why?
SN 156601 is the 400th camera of a 650 camera batch made in 1935. It was the first batch of IIIa, adding the 1/1000th shutter speed. Alleged provenance includes being seized from a German Tank Officer. Update after 2nd roll: I've bought/repaired/shot about 80 vintage cameras, but I've never found a connection like this. Light, small, exactly what a camera needs (although not all every photographer wants). What a marvel! P.S. Thanks a million to Richard W for the fantastic CLA guide here on Flickr.
