Barn Hill Rocks Loop

by bobfitzy62

A short walk from Cox Tor carpark across Barn Hill Rocks to Windy Post Cross, Feather and Heckwood Tors. The last time I visited I came across Heckwood from the track underneath and saw a tor despoiled by quarrying and did not fully investigate it.
This time, I came directly from Feather and found many more outcrops of note with pleasing views all around. There are plenty of areas of cut stone still visible which strongly indicate it's previous industrial heritage.
From here I sized up Rouge Tor, not previously visible due to foliage. There is a gate with a sign marked private/bull roaming but the land was more akin to rough moorland and the tor was 100 yards in front or less so, and with no bull visible I ventured in, took a few photographs and promptly left with no harm done in my opinion.
Then I returned to Barn Hill which appeared to have 2 distinct outcrops and back to the car and home.
Time was short on this occasion so I will return again to visit the outcrop below Pew Tor.
It is a great shame that Vixen is not officially publicly accessible either.
