Hedwig

Hedwig, the snow owl, was initially a gift from Harry's first friend from the Wizarding world, Hagrid. She always remains Harry's loyal companion in all his years at Hogwarts until her tragic death in book seven. I don't think there was any creature or human being Harry could trust more than her.
