The Curious Case of the White House 2 of 2
I found no external evidence of fire damage in my walk around the house. The side and back were slightly shabbier than the front, but not too bad, and the inside of the inner fence looked like a used car lot, figuratively rather than literally. Interestingly, the back of the house was very plain, with none of the decorative fine finishes like those on the front, Last, it did not appear that work on the house was currently in progress.
The front view shows that the house has an oversized lot. The lot next to the fence was empty and there were boards with gang graffiti on them covering a gap in the fencing. Was the previous house on the empty lot a victim of fire?
In conclusion, the mystery of this house still remains. If there is no fire damage and if the house was not trashed inside by thugs, then someone must be renovating it. But how does it make sense to plow a lot of money to create a fine house in a bad neighborhood?
My next step will be to look up the house on the Tax Assessment website and to see whether construction workers appear on the site on future drive bys.
