Right side of ATSF sleeper Pine Mesa
The Kato N scale corrugated Budd 10-6 sleeper came from the factory with full skirts across the bottom of the car. This is correct for some railroads like the Burlington, but not the Santa Fe. Originally, the Santa Fe ordered their Budd 10 roomette 6 bedroom Pine series sleepers without skirts except near the ends of the car. This is the room side of Pine Mesa, one of the Budd 10-6 sleepers that Santa Fe added skirts between the trucks. I cut off the skirts only around the trucks and left the rest. Then I repainted and lettered the car and added MicroTrains trucks with couplers. Here the sleeper Pine Mesa rolls into the passing siding at Cimarron NM on train #20 the eastbound Chief.
