A bountiful Sunday night supper
Ich trinke mein Pilsner und esse meine Schwein Kotolett. Es war sehr gut! Attending a great performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony the night before had me feeling rather German and re-reading the words of Schiller's poem "An die Freud" reinforced that feeling. Besides, Texas country cooking has roots in Mexican, Native American, German, French (via Louisiana and Quebec), and other places. What we call a pork chop is also known as ein Schwein Kotolett. Good eatin'!
I decided that squash would go well with my little piggies. Naturally I had to include a Gemischtersalat. The carrots are a continuing experiment to duplicate Kathy's Honey Glazed Carrots invented by my grandmother and sister over 50 years ago. I plan to fix some and take them to one of Leslie Anne's dinners in the future. With all these dishes in progress, I opted for some simple Rice a Roni instead of oven fried potatoes.
On my stereo: "Blow By Blow" by Jeff Beck from the summer of 1975.
