Southbound MetroRail train from Midtown

This is a Siemens Avanto S70 Light Rail Vehicle soundbound on Fannin coming from the underdeveloped Midtown area toward the Museum District. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/METRORail for info on Houston Metrorail. Right now, we only have one LRT line which runs from University of Houston Downtown campus on the north edge of downtown to a station 7.5 miles south. It connects our downtown to the Museum District, the Texas Medical Center and beyond.

The Red Line should be understood as a starter line, not a complete system. In 2012 there should be five more routes in operation in the inner city area and a bit beyond. I am a civic activist who helped write the 2007 Draft Environment Impact Statement for the University Line and participated in the route selection process.
