Northline Station

Here is a closeup of a northbound Light Rail train arriving at Northline Station. Notice the three white headlights. After the northbound passengers get off, the driver will shut down and lock the cab and move to the other end of the train for the return trip. By that time, the southbound passengers (like me) will be aboard, and the white headlights will be replaced by red taillights.

There are two tracks in the station and a crossover just south of the station. The northbound train has actually entered the southbound track for the last few hundred feet of the journey. Most of the Red Line is level and built into the median of North Main, Fulton, and short bits of other streets. However the Red Line also climbs over three freight railroads and has elevated stations at University of Houston Downtown Campus and the Burnett Transit Center.
