Adult Sharp-shinned Hawk - our Christmas Hawk

We were blessed by a visit from this adult Sharp-shinned Hawk for a few minutes on Christmas day, 2022 (this past Sunday).

All of a sudden, we noticed this beauty in our Walnut tree, checking out the local backyard bird population, looking to invite a birdie or two to brunch.

It was an inclement day, with ground fog in our yard, which led to pics that were not quite as sharp as we'd have wished, but "beggars can't be choosers" is what I was taught, so we just enjoyed the foggy presence of this beauty.

This beauty was pretty patient with me, waiting for me to grab my camera, change lenses, and to then take a few pics thru the window before venturing out into the backyard to see if pictures with a bit more clarity could be obtained.

The Hawk was very cooperative (this time). That's usually not the case. Must have been the 'ol holiday spirit in action.

Fog, low light, and a resulting very slow shutter speed led to the softness of this pic, but hey, it's still a beautiful Sharpie, IMHO.
