Modern mascaron on ancient wall

A house in Rue Juiverie, a paved pedestrian street in the Old Lyon district, in the 5th arrondissement of Lyon.

The famous Nostradamus lived here, and Catherine de' Medici came to visit him.

All the current facades date from the Renaissance and are built on much older foundations.

Some locals have hung modern gargoyles or mascaron ornaments on their windows. This lion is definitely not from any old times.
