Wheels of trebuchet

"A trebuchet is the largest offensive siege engine. The assailants used it to break through the heavy stone walls several meters thick which surrounded castles or fortified places. Very powerful and with very great accuracy, it could throw stone balls weighing up to 140 kg for a distance of 200 meters.

This trebuchet is unique and the largest one in France. It measures 16 meters high and weighs nearly 10 tonnes.

The trebuchet consists of a large rod, a counterweight called the "hutch", and a pouch in which the assailants placed the projectiles."

This trebuchet at Château des Baux is a replica.
