Les Deux Plateaux, more commonly known as the Colonnes de Buren, is an art installation created by the French artist Daniel Buren in 1985–1986.
Left: Galerie d’Orléans.
In 1828-30, under the Restoration, Pierre Fontaine carried out the construction of this gallery covered with a glass roof, with a pavilion at each end. It was demolished in 1935, but its parallel colonnades that delimited its lateral extremities still stand between the Cour d’Honneur and the gardens.
Right: In the 17C decoration of rostres (or ship's prows) adorned the wings lining the Cour d’Honneur to the east and west. Some of these reliefs have been preserved and now decorate one of the side galleries of the Cour d’Honneur (Galerie des Proues on the right side of the Cour d’Honneur).
