Leiria is situated in the confluence of two rivers: the Liz and Lena, in a region (who be unimportant stopping-off place. The economy of the region is based on the industries of the plastic, the ceramic, the cement, the business and the cattle breeding. The castle of Leiria was built by the 1st king of Portugal en1135 to defend( the border the South of the kingdom. leiria was nevertheless lost repeatedly for the benefit of Arabic, . King Dinis and queen Sainte Isabel made it restore, and chose (it) as royal residence in the 13es. and to be again restored in the 19es.
