murphman61 says: HANK GOWDY The Catcher usually hit 6th in the order. Gowdy had a great 1914 World Series batting .545 with 3 doubles, a triple and the Series' only Home Run leading off the 10th inning of Game 3. That Home Run brought the Braves back to within a run and they would score another run to tie it later that inning. Gowdy would then lead off the 12th with a double and his pinch-runner, Les Mann, would go on to score the winning run moments later.
