READING TREAT
Conrail PO87 sits at Suffern N.Y. on the ex Erie main 10-19-1977. This train was unusual in the fact that it had pushers on the rear, something i had never witnessed before on this line. Not sure if it was loco problems, too heavy a train, many leaves on the rails, or a combo of these factors. Ex Reading GP30`s doing the honors up front. CR 2171 ex RDG 3603 exx 5503 built in 3-62 and CR 2174 ex RDG 3606 exx 5506 built 4-62. Pushers on the rear were CR blue U25B 2608 ex PC 2608 exx PRR 2508 built 6-64 and CR black GP40 3112 ex PC 3012 built 11-65. Westbound commuter passing is led by U34CH 3356. Howard Kent Jr. photo.
