NYSME

In the early 1950's my dad got me hooked on trains, at first model, and then the real thing. We would often visit The New York Society Of Model Engineers when they had their open house for public viewing of both their HO and O Guage model railroads. At this time they were located on Hoboken Road in Carlstadt NJ. Pictured is a part of their HO layout with a Hump Yard that was controlled by compressed air which simulated real life retarders. That's my dad on the left looking on. Sadly he passed away at the age of 59 from a totally unexpected heart attack. I miss the times sharing both life and the hobby with him.
