SURVIVOR

An EL/NJDOT U34CH has made the long trip west to Hornell NY for some type of mechanical sevicing. The U34CH's normal haunts were on the New York Division and were sent all the way to Hornell usually on weekends when the need arose.Commuter service was in lesser demand on weekends allowing the long trip. 3372,built in 04-1971, would later be renumbered 4172 by NJTR.There is only one surviving U34CH left,3372, and it is now owned by the United Railroad Historical Society of New Jersey Inc.of Boonton N.J.with plans for future restoration. 3372 was the star of the Farewell To The U34CH trip that took place on 08-27-1994.A special thanks to Michael William Sullivan for some of the info provided. Howard Kent Jr. photo. 07-21-1973. Congratulations to the United Railroad Historical Society and all the people involved in her rebirth and unveiling on 09-24-2023 more than 50 years later after this photo was taken.
