Spring has definitely sprung in Madrid
Yes, you´ll think it is very early, and I agree with you because I like cold and long winters, but the almond trees have begun to bloom in Madrid. Normally, this happens at the beginning of February, so this situation is completely normal here (don´t forget that our climate is more Mediterranean than continental despite being situated in the center of the Iberian Peninsula.
With the mild temperatures that we are experiencing these days (between 63F to 66F) in the afternoon, the flowers have believed that Winter is definitely over, and maybe they´re right.
We continue with plenty sunshine everyday and a severe drought (in Madrid we don´t see rain falling since more than a month ago, concretely since January 5th). Anyway, the reservoirs in the Community of Madrid are at a medium of 60 per cent of their capability.
Nevertheless, the forecast announces very light rain for the next week. We´ll see. Let´s pray for a generous rainfall which can provide moisture to the land and a filling of the water reserves. Anyway, with an atmosphere cleaning we´ll be able to be satisfied.

Definitivamente ha llegado la primavera a Madrid, España
Sí, pensarás que es muy temprano, y estoy de acuerdo contigo porque me gustan los inviernos fríos y largos, pero los almendros han comenzado a florecer en Madrid. Normalmente, esto ocurre a principios de febrero, por lo que esta situación es completamente normal aquí (no olvides que nuestro clima es más mediterráneo que continental a pesar de estar situados en el centro de la Península Ibérica).
Con las temperaturas suaves que estamos experimentando estos días (entre 17 y 19 grados centígrados) por la tarde, las flores han creído que el invierno definitivamente ha terminado, y tal vez tengan razón.
Seguimos con mucho sol todos los días y una fuerte sequía (en Madrid no vemos lluvia desde hace más de un mes, concretamente desde el 5 de enero). De todos modos, los embalses de la Comunidad de Madrid están a una media del 60 por ciento de su capacidad.
Sin embargo, el pronóstico anuncia lluvia muy ligera para la próxima semana. Ya veremos. Oremos por una lluvia generosa que pueda proporcionar humedad a la tierra y llenar las reservas de agua. De todos modos, con una limpieza de la atmósfera podremos estar satisfechos.
