Hverfjall
The Hverfjall crater near Lake Mývatn in northeastern Iceland is part of the Krafla volcanic system and was formed around 2500 years ago by steam explosions triggered by the meeting of magma and groundwater. When there is some snow in winter, the structures of the tuff ring appear particularly three-dimensional.
