Snow on Stokksnes is actually almost as rare as the proverbial snow in the desert. And that is not the only similarity, because Stokksnes also has a spectacular dune landscape, although it is usually black because the sand - as is often the case in Iceland - is of volcanic origin. It had actually snowed a little overnight and the dunes were an unusual white. The weather was also quite good, because despite passing rain showers, the rising sun brought a little color to the clouds.
