Ramdung
Taken shortly after sunrise after a very early start from high camp. This is Ramdung 5930m, 19456ft in the Rolwaling area of Nepal, first climbed by the Scottish Himalayan expedition led by Bill Murray 1952. The Rolwaling valley was off-limits to all but those with climbing permit when this was taken back in late October 2007, i'm not sure if this is still the case now. I don't recall seeing more than about ten non locals during our entire time in this beautiful valley, with the wonderfully friendly and welcoming Nepalese people, our time here was made even more memorable as it coincided with the Diwali Hindu festival being celebrated all over Nepal. We had permits for the trek from Dolakha, climbing Ramdung and Parchamo 6273m, crossing the Trakarding Glacier, Drolambu icefall and the Tesi Labcha pass at 5755m where we spent two nights for the ascent of Parchamo before decending eventually to Namche Bazaar.
