Birdwatching on Enlli

This was taken on my first visit to the beautiful island of Enlli ( Bardsey Island ) situated off the tip of Penrhyn Llyn ( Llyn Peninsula ) Gwynedd, North Wales. It's at the north western end of the island with Mynydd Mawr on the tip of the Llyn Peninsula in the background behind one of the stone built hides, this was the first morning of our visit. There was high wind and rough seas on the day we crossed and it was late afternoon by the time the boatman decided we could attempt a crossing, that was to be the last boat in or out for the whole week. As a result of the conditions it turned out to be a very good week for seawatching, at times there were many thousands of birds every hour passing offshore on their autumn migration. Sitting in the hide and looking out to sea marvelling upon the spectacle unfolding in front of us was an unforgettable experience.
