AS Fine art - Relationships (Taboo)

For my AS Fine art piece we were given the title "Relationships" I began looking at the relationship between children and taboos. Children seen doing anything "adult" can be extremely uncomfortable, even disturbing to look at. I studied various scenarios including prostitution, homelessness and alcohol use but ended up looking at smoking children in particular.

 

Above is my Final outcome (Left) and a mock outcome i created a couple of weeks before (Right). However since the Mock shows a much older figure smoking, I like the two being side by side as it forces you to compare how the two different age groups differ, most people would agree they feel a lot more uncomfortable looking at the clearly child-like figure on the left.

 

I used digital programme Paint tool sai for both of these outcomes and both were printed large scale on glossy paper.
