Kevin's Knee Surgery Success

Kevin’s Slow Realisation

As time passed, though he found it hard to admit, the pain slowly began to change the way he went about his life from day to day.

When it’s Time But You Don’t Want to Know

Situations like these are quite common. Degenerative conditions like osteoarthritis tax a person’s ability to judge their condition honestly. It’s not only hard to acknowledge because people wrongly associate arthritic conditions with being old. It is also hard to recognize the degree you compensate for the pain because you do it every day, and the onset is usually so gradual. Often full acknowledgement only comes after seemingly basic tasks become a real challenge.

His First Stop Was to a GP

When Kevin went to his local GP he put on painkillers and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, (NSAID’s).

Balancing Work and Pain

Adapting his days to avoid the pain and just grinning and bearing it when it inevitably came.

Kevin’s Next Step

After Kevin had tried all the medicinal treatments available to him he was finally referred to a specialist.

Understanding Your Options

Having said this Kevin was very thorough in trying to understand the details of the operation and how surgical intervention works, before he agreed. Dr.

Simon Coffey, his surgeon, encouraged this and explained his range of options and the finer points of each one.

Kevin’s Surgery and Road to Recovery

Immediately after the surgery, there was tenderness and a few weeks where he was less confident on his feet than prior to the operation. But with regular gentle exercise and once he started to heal his improvement was dramatic. Within three months his mobility was more or less as it had been pre-osteoarthritis. The only exception being a little numbness and a sensible limit on what he could do.

Knee Surgery has Come a Long Way

Today the technology is there to make surgery more effective and safer than it has ever been before.

Back to Enjoying Life

Since the surgery Kevin has regained his active lifestyle, is still working long hours as a self-employed truck driver and has also lost the of running his truck on empty rather stop for fuel.

Due to the success of the operation and his smooth and improving recovery, Kevin believes thanks to Dr. Coffey’s handwork he now has a brighter outlook on life and a lot to be grateful for. goo.gl/IVx7pA
