Every few weeks or so I like to nip into my favorite record shop and buy myself a "Pocket money treat"....This week I have chosen Steely Dans 1977 album Aja [pronounced like asia] It was the bands 6th album and it see's them lean towards a more jazzier sound. It became the bands first platinum album peaking at No 5 in the UK album charts, it also won a grammy award for the best engineered album in 1978 and on top of that it was ranked at no 145 in Rolling stones"500 greatest albums of all time"...Highlights for me are the magnificent Deacon blues and the "funky" classic Peg which many will remember for being heavily sampled on De la souls Eye know...
