Gatekeeper
This year I've spotted several Gatekeeper butterflies (also called Hedge brown) in my garden. 'Spotted' is the correct word here: the two white spots in the black spot on the wings. We have more Meadow browns, and that butterfly usually has just one white spot (or 'pupil') in the black spot. Also, the Gatekeeper is a bit smaller and it rests with its wings open, which gave me the opportunity to take a photo of a Gatekeeper with open wings. I'll post that one later.
