Old Wooden House

Along the road in my previous photo I passed this old wooden house. I imagine it to be a "Walserhaus", a house originally built by the people who immigrated into the Kleinwalsertal from Wallis in Switzerland.

The German word "Walserhaus" is used by locals for houses that were mainly constructed in wood, and this seems to be the case here. Its frame will be wood and even the outside is covered in wooden scales, something you rarely see these days. It's a large and impressive house, situated along the street called "Am Höhenweg" in Baad, and it is very close to the church. Another, very similar house nearby is the old chaplain's house, which was built in 1714. It also has these wooden scales, so I think the house in my photo may date from the same period.
