Malaya was born at the Akron Zoo in Akron, Ohio on 4/14/14 to Shanti (Mom) and Roscoe (Dad). She moved to the Los Angeles Zoo in May 2015.
Her brother/littermate, Makalu, lives at Bramble Park Zoo in Watertown, South Dakota.
She has two older brothers who were born on 5/14/12. Raj lives at Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek, Michigan and Sabu lives at Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, Rhode Island.
She also has three younger siblings - one sister and two brothers - who were born on 3/5/16.
