Good Luck and Farewell Tubby
I took Tubby to a conservation area out past Warrenton, to release her. Last time I released a turtle, it turned around and tried to follow me. It was kind of heartbreaking. Tubby, on the other hand, appeared to be happy to be free. I even tried to offer her one last plate of food, but she wasn't interested. I'm guessing her chances of long term survival are maybe 40%. Kind of depressing odds, but I can't save all the turtles by keeping them in my backyard. And anyhow, when I found her, some boys from a private Chesterfield school had put her out on a road to see her get hit. So at least she has a chance this time.
