Okay, so we've covered as much of Route 66 as we were going to on this trip so we headed home. Being near Narcissa Oklahoma, the fastest way was to go to Highway 44 and then head back east. well, I had forgotten that a large part of Highway 44, in Oklahoma, is a turnpike. That means limited access, but fortunately for us, one of the access points was just south of Narcissa. So as we are driving up to the toll booths, I see this little turtle on the road. I didn't know where the nearest body of water was, but the road had five inch curbs and the little guy was trapped. I slowed my car down and opened the door and scooped him up as I passed. Then I pulled over and dumped out my toolbox to have something to put him in.

So we proceed to get on the turnpike and head home and I'm thinking about letting the turtle go at whatever river or stream we come to. But we are on a turnpike. So there is no way to get off until we reach the next access point. Turns out we didn't find a suitable place to get off till we reached Joplin Missouri.

Shoal Creek got a new resident that day. Well since the little guy had his heart set on migrating, this should do the trick.
