Horseshoe Lake
Jasper Natonal Park, AB
This spot in Jasper National Park is so quiet & serene. If you look at the pine trees on the left, you will see the pine needles are red in colour. They turn red just before they die. This is due to the mountain pine beetle taking over the park's forests. Almost half of the pine forests in the park have been affected. An epidemic of pine beetles moved in from British Columbia & their survival in higher elevations around Jasper is enabled by warmer winters resulting from climate change.
