The Plains of Hoge Veluwe
We often distract ourselves with art, entertainment, or social media, but I think God calls us to be captivated by His Great Immeasurable Goodness (or His Glory). God is truly in control, but He focuses on eternity. The hope that God is real, and loving, and just is the key to a steady-state joy: rejoicing in the goodness He provides as glimpses of heaven or dreaming about how He will use this pain for our good and His Glory. Surgery involves pain; we have to be cut open for the surgeon to do His work. Cutting to heal is a paradox that adults readily understand, but children cannot comprehend it. He is God, and we are the children who sinned
Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;
let the sea resound, and all that is in it.
Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them;
let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.
Let all creation rejoice before the LORD, for he comes,
he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
and the peoples in his faithfulness.
– Psalm 96:11-13
