Alone Together

I felt alone

until night rose up to greet me

and offered its comfort.

Companionship in solitude

is always a welcome reprieve.

We were alone

together

and that was enough;

Night held onto me

without a word or a touch

but it was there, present,

Its silence was pure

not filtered like my own

It gave me space

yet surrounded me

both protective and open

asking nothing,

Its presence gave me peace.
