" The Parting Way "
I took this while crossing the " shoulder " of Trooperstown Hill, Co. Wicklow, looking back towards the village of Laragh [ Lara ] and beyond to the monastic settlement of Glendalough ,[ "The Glen of the two lakes" ]
This is part of the" Avonmore [river] Way" which is about 12 to 15km in distance, depending on the route you take, and runs from near this spot to the village of Rathdrum. It winds its way through some really stunning woodland with mountain views as it skirts the Avonmore river on its route.Eventually it arrives at "Clara Vale" at the old bridge [ photo on here ] and small schoolhouse before continuing and reaching "Stump Castle"
I did the longer route and including a break for tea and a sandwich, it took me three and a half hours. Its easy ground and nice and dry and well within the scope of the average person. Its another one of those hidden gems as Ive never seen a photo of this before which amazes me. Its a linear route so two cars are recommended unless you want to walk the return journey.
I took this in late August when the Bracken was growing at full steam and the Wicklow heather was also in full bloom giving a shock of purple to the greenery which i love. Ill have to redo this walk in the coming weeks as Im certain that the woodland must be stunning about now, in all its Autumn glory and anyway, I dont need an excuse!!! Maybe I should stay in more!!!!
I hope you like effort and my "meanderings" and I do always appreciate a few Faves n comments if you like.
Hope your week is as super as mine and catch you all soon!
Pat.
Ive just updated this today, 10/2/2017 as I like it lots!!!
I suppose thats as good enough a reason as any and humour me just this once!!!!!! Lol!
