I have always wanted to hear what a catbird sounded like and I got to hear it constantly at our accommodation in the Atherton Tablelands.
It is not a gentle Meow, it is but more like two cats fighting at night and described as a wailing sound! This is the spotted Catbird, a first for me and lived up to my expectations.
They actually belong to the Bowerbird family but don't build bowers and are monogamous.
There was no mistaking when these birds were about.
