Lady Luck
Melbourne has faced some horrendous weather over- night with thunder, lightening and howling winds.
"Destructive winds of up to 110km/h are battering Melbourne and large parts of Victoria, toppling shipping containers and uprooting trees".
Woken during the night by the rattling of the windows, and flashes of lightening, I worried for the Tawny chicks, wondering if they would survive the night, especially with the recent loss of a parent.
A quick check this morning (as it is too dangerous to be amongst the trees for long) revealed to our great relief, both chicks were huddled together (no nest left) and the remaining parent on another branch nearby. The adjacent tree had lost many branches but this one seemed relatively intact.
Lady luck was watching over the nest last night. Lets hope she continues and worse weather is on the way.
