My sister and I visited a nursery the other day where the lovely owner happily chatted to us and invited us to take photos of her plants. She asked if I was taking the images for Instagram. I spent 5 minutes ranting just alittle about how much I think Instagram has ruined photography and destroyed many special places-often about being the first to get the shot to post as quickly as possible (Of course I know that isn't really true and can be said for many forms of social media but hearing recently about wonderful places such as the mysterious blue pools that pop at Mt Wellington trampled by photographers, mostly with phones for Insta posts, you do get abit troubled by it all).
When I told her I was on Flickr, she said "Oh, that is very old fashioned!" I suppose it is and I should get with the times and be more present on Insta!
I shamefully replied that she was probably right and it is full of middle age fogeys like me as well as a generation of retired folks!
