Male Crescent Honey-eater DSC_7416

I stopped to look at some pretty flowering heath when I spied a flash of colour that looked like something new. Lucky my bird lens was in the car so I was able to take some images of a male and female Crescent Honey-eater. A first for me!

These birds are native to SE Australian. The Crescent Honey-eater feeds on nectar, fruit and insects, foraging mainly on understorey shrubs. They are often found in in a variety of habitats, from coastal heaths, wet sclerophyll forests to mountain forests.
